Ecology of Peace factual reality: 1. Earth is not flat; 2. Resources are finite; 3. When humans breed or consume above ecological carrying capacity limits, it results in resource conflict; 4. If individuals, families, tribes, races, religions, and/or nations want to reduce class, racial and/or religious local, national and international resource war conflict; they should cooperate to implement an Ecology of Peace international law social contract that restricts all the worlds citizens to breed and consume below ecological carrying capacity limits; to sustainably protect and conserve natural resources.

Wild Law/Rights of Nature: New Zealand Grants a River the Rights of Personhood

Agreement entitles Whanganui River to legal identity

Sustainability Defined: A Sustainable society practices Sustainable Procreation and Natural Resource Utilization Behaviour. Sustainable Human Societies: A sustainable human society utilizes renewable natural resources exclusively, at levels less than or equal to the levels at which they are replenished by Nature

By Kate Shuttleworth | New Zealand Herald | Thursday Aug 30, 2012

The Whanganui River will become an legal entity and have a legal voice under a preliminary agreement signed between Whanganui River iwi and the Crown tonight.

This is the first time a river has been given a legal identity.

A spokesman for the Minister of Treaty Negotiations said Whanganui River will be recognised as a person when it comes to the law - "in the same way a company is, which will give it rights and interests".

The agreement was signed on behalf of Whanganui iwi by Brendan Puketapu of the Whanganui River Maori Trust, which represents a group of iwi along the river, and the Crown in Parliament this evening.

Under the agreement the river is given legal status under the name Te Awa Tupua - two guardians, one from the Crown and one from a Whanganui River iwi, will be given the role of protecting the river.

Leave Your Chemicals at the Border: Bhutan Going 100 Percent Organic

The World's First 100% Organic Nation?

Heaven on earth? This country wants to cover its land with organic farms, to achieve "Gross National Happiness"

Emily Main | Rodale | 07 September 2012

The tiny Himalayan country of Bhutan serves as home to just 738,000 people—about the population of Alaska. But this tiny landlocked nation is on track to make one of the biggest pro-organic moves in the world.

At the June 2012 Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development, the kingdom's prime minister, Jigmi Thinley, announced plans to convert all his nation's agricultural land to organic farms with, he said in his speech, "the 'raised in Bhutan' label synonymous with 'organically grown.'"

The country is already well on its way to organic: Two thirds of Bhutanese citizens are farmers, and many of them are organic by default, unable to afford the synthetic fertilizers and pesticides required in chemical farming. Very few of the farms are actually certified as organic, but the country has sent a number of farmers to India to study at food activist Vanadana Shiva's organic training farm, and has asked consultants from Shiva's farm to educate its local extension specialists so they, in turn, are better prepared to help farmers convert to organic.

Goldman Sachs & Barclays Capital: Peak cheap oil is an incontrovertible fact

Peak cheap oil is an incontrovertible fact

Comment: Mr. Evans-Pritchard is clueless that 'Peak Oil' means 'the end of cheap oil'; which is shocking ignorance. Energy Return on Energy Invested (EROI) explains how and why there can be ten trillion barrels deep under the ground, but if it requires more than one barrel of oil, to dig up another barrel of oil; there is no return on investment/i.e. it is an energy sink: fucking pointless!

Ambrose Evans-Pritchard | Telegraph | 26 Aug 2012

Brent crude jumped to $115 a barrel last week. Petrol costs in Germany and across much of Europe are now at record levels in local currencies.

Diesel is above the political pain threshold of $4 a gallon in the US, hence reports circulating last week that the International Energy Agency (IEA) is preparing to release strategic reserves.

Barclays Capital expects a “monster” effect this quarter as the crude market tightens by 2.4m barrels a day (bpd), with little extra supply in sight.

Goldman Sachs said the industry is chronically incapable of meeting global needs. “It is only a matter of time before inventories and OPEC spare capacity become effectively exhausted, requiring higher oil prices to restrain demand,” said its oil guru David Greely.

This is a remarkable state of affairs given the world economy is close to a double-dip slump right now, the latest relapse in our contained global depression.

Britain, the eurozone, and parts of Eastern Europe are in outright recession. China has “hard-landed”, the result of a monetary shock and real M1 contraction last winter. The HSBC manufacturing index fell deeper into contraction in July.
