We Have Met the Enemy; It is Us: “Feeding the World's Hungry Millions: How It Will Mean Billions for U.S. Business.”

The Culture of Future Conflict: Overpopulation & Resource Scarcity will be the Direct Cause of Confrontation, Conflict, and War: ... Resource scarcity will be a direct cause of confrontation, conflict, and war.... Gross overpopulation will destroy fragile possibilities for progress in much of the non-Western world, and much of this problem is the West's fault....
Food for Peace / [Food Aid to Enable Our own Colonisation by Immigration]: Following World War II, U.S. agricultural surpluses reached alarming levels, and storage of excess grain cost the government millions of dollars per year--even as the food deteriorated and became inedible. A solution had to be found, and in 1954 President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the Agricultural Trade Development Assistance Act into law.
The program, known as Public Law 480, benefited the U.S. by decreasing food surpluses and by creating new markets for its agricultural products....
Living in a Lifeboat: ..... Our experience with Public Law 480 clearly reveals the answer. This was the law that moved billions of dollars worth of U.S. grain to food-short, population-long countries during the past two decades. When P. L. 480 first came into being, a headline in the business magazine Forbes (Paddock and Paddock 1970) revealed the power behind it: "Feeding the World's Hungry Millions: How It Will Mean Billions for U.S. Business."
And indeed it did. In the years 1960 to 1970 a total of $7.9 billion was spent on the "Food for Peace" program, as P. L. 480 was called. During the years 1948 to 1970 an additional $49.9 billion were extracted from American taxpayers to pay for other economic aid programs, some of which went for food and food-producing machinery. (This figure does not include military aid.) That P. L. 480 was a give-away program was concealed. Recipient countries went through the motions of paying for P. L. 480 food -with IOUs. In December 1973 the charade was brought to an end as far as India was concerned when the United States "forgave" India's $3.2 billion debt (Anonymous 1974). Public announcement of the cancellation of the debt was delayed for two months; one wonders why.
"Famine-1975!" (Paddock and Paddock 1970) is one of the few publications that points out the commercial roots of this humanitarian attempt. Though all U.S. taxpayers lost by P. L. 480, special interest groups gained handsomely. Farmers benefited because they were not asked to contribute the grain -it was bought from them by the taxpayers. Besides the direct benefit there was the indirect effect of increasing demand and thus raising prices of farm products generally. The manufacturers of farm machinery, fertilizers, and pesticides benefited by the farmers extra efforts to grow more food. Grain elevators profited from storing the grain for varying lengths of time. Railroads made money hauling it to port, and shipping lines by carrying it overseas. Moreover, once the machinery for P. L. 480 was established, an immense bureaucracy had a vested interest in its continuance regardless of its merits.
Very little was ever heard of these selfish interests when P. L. 480 was defended in public. The emphasis was always on its humanitarian effects. The combination of multiple and relatively silent selfish interests with highly vocal humanitarian apologists constitutes a powerful lobby for extracting money from taxpayers. Foreign aid has become a habit that can apparently survive in the absence of any known justification.

Living on a Lifeboat: What repression keeps us from discussing something as important?
Living on a lifeboat
Garrett Hardin | Garrett Hardin Society | 1974

This article appeared in BioScience, vol 24(10), pp. 561-568 and in The Social Contract, Fall 2001 issue. Currently available in Stalking the Wild Taboo.
Susanne Langer (1942) has shown that it is probably impossible to approach an unsolved problem save through the door of metaphor. Later, attempting to meet the demands of rigor, we may achieve some success in cleansing theory of metaphor, though our success is limited if we are unable to avoid using common language, which is shot through and through with fossil metaphors. (I count no less than five in the preceding two sentences.)
Since metaphorical thinking is inescapable it is pointless merely to weep about our human limitations. We must learn to live with them, to understand them, and to control them. "All of us," said George Eliot in Middlemarch, "get our thoughts entangled in metaphors, and act fatally on the strength of them". To avoid unconscious suicide we are well advised to pit one metaphor against another. From the interplay of competitive metaphors, thoroughly developed, we may come closer to metaphor-free solutions to our problems.
No generation has viewed the problem of the survival of the human species as seriously as we have. Inevitably, we have entered this world of concern through the door of metaphor. Environmentalists have emphasized the image of the earth as a spaceship -Spaceship Earth. Kenneth Boulding (1966) is the principal architect of this metaphor. It is time, he says, that we replace the wasteful "cowboy economy" of the past with the frugal "spaceship economy" required for continued survival in the limited world we now see ours to be. The metaphor is notably useful in justifying pollution control measures.

US Naval Services Long-Term Study: Global Tipping Points on Food, Water, Energy, Pollution, Population, & Natural Resources & Population Explosion...

State of the Worlds Future: According to a long-term study just released by the U.S. Naval Services Department, a series of tipping points could dramatically alter the global prospects for economic growth and humanity — for the worse.
Right now, for instance, fully half the world is vulnerable to social instability resulting from rising food and energy prices, lack of water, failing state governments, and pollution.
The Population Explosion: The Most Powerful Force on Earth: The population explosion is beyond control. It has emerged as the single most powerful, immutable force on Earth, driving geopolitical change, stimulating economic growth and generating global inflation. Ultimately, it is the most persistent but least understood factor underlying virtually everything weve been warning you about here in Money and Markets: It is behind food prices ..... It is behind the cycle of debt...... It is behind a new crisis in the Persian Gulf..... It is behind Peak Oil ...... This is just a small sampling of the massive scope and overpowering momentum of the population explosion. And what weve told you about in Money and Markets is just a sneak preview of its consequences...... At some point in the not-too-distant future, this explosion in population, consumption, and the exhaustion of scarce resources will inevitably collide with limits to growth. Brazil, China, India, the United States and most of the worlds economies will reach a breaking point beyond which further acceleration is virtually impossible. Prices will be so high, and incomes so low, that the demand for goods will plunge. Governments will fall. Economies will collapse. Thats when you will see the other side of the parabolic growth curve. Thats when you will see deflation.

Right now, for instance, fully half the world is vulnerable to social instability resulting from rising food and energy prices, lack of water, failing state governments, and pollution.
102 countries are at risk of chaos. 46 countries, comprising 2.7 BILLION people, are at risk of armed conflict with lack of adequate natural resources as the root cause for many of them. Another 56 countries, with 1.2 billion people, are at risk of severe social instability.

Andrea Muhrrteyn | 10 May 2012 | Norway v. Breivik

A Deep Green Ecology Indigenous Rights application has been filed in the Norway Supreme Court by an African EcoFeminist member of the Radical Honesty culture. The application includes the UN Special Rapporter on Indigenous Rights, James Anyana (http://unsr.jamesanaya.org/) as one of the respondents.
The Norway Supreme Court are asked to approve the African EcoFeminist Applicant to be admitted to the Norway v. Breivik matter as a Jus Sanguinis Radical Honoursty African EcoFeminist White Refugee Applicant.
If approved, the EcoFeminist Amicus Curiae written submissions would (a) address alternative legal arguments to those of both the Prosecution and Defense, i.e. from a Problem Solving Radical Transparency EcoFeminists perspective as opposed to the Prosecution & Defense’s Parasite Leeching Masculine (Reason and Logic) Insecurity Patriarchal perspectives; (b) ‘argue points deemed too far reaching for emphasis by parties intent on winning their particular Parasite Leeching Masculine Insecurity case’ ; (c) ‘apprise the court of Problem Solving Radical Transparency EcoFeminists legal, social, economic, ecological and cultural enquiry implications for its consideration’ to allow the court to base its decision on a larger, more comprehensive, and more accurate reality based natural law deep green ecology legal framework.
The EcoFeminist applicant states that she is a Jus Sanguinis (Right of Blood) descendant of Norwegian artillery officer and citizen: Johan Pieter FÜRSTENBERG, who was born about 1760 in Bergen, Norway and then emigrated to South Africa.
The EcoFeminist applicant states that she is an Indigenous European, because she is Jus Sanguinis (Right of Blood) directly descended from Norwegian, French, Dutch, British and German Settler Progenitor/s who traveled to South Africa as ‘settler’ farmers, soldiers, medical personnel, religious and political administrators, in response to, and as a result of, their Nations Geopolitical ‘Colonial Empire’ Decision-making policies, to find only the Bushman, as indigenous natives.
The EcoFeminist Application states that her predecessors ‘Colonial Empire’ actions were motivated by their decision thousands of years ago to give up their sustainable hunter gatherer / agrarian policies founded upon the Law of Limited Competition, and instead to adopt unsustainable Totalitarian Agriculture policies.

On 08 April I wrote you an email wherein I informed you of my opinion that there is an error in your Bridgewater Associates publication: A Template for Understanding Whats Going On[1]. Specifically that your No.1 Trend Line Productivity Graph was incorrect.
I stated that your graph was a ‘small picture’ graph, and that if you had a ‘big picture’ reality perspective, your graph would look more like that of Mr. Chris Clugston in his Peak NNR book: Scarcity: Humanity’s Last Chapter: A Comprehensive Analysis of Nonrenewable Natural Resource (NNR) Scarcity’s Consequences.
Put succinctly: (I) Peak Oil & Peak Non-Renewable Resources = End of Economic Growth (II) Sustainable Economic Growth is an Oxymoron; (III) Ecological Sustainability = (A) Urgent Population & Consumption Reduction, (B) Political Secession & Economic Relocalisation

Why is Haiti Overpopulated and Poverty Stricken? Is restavac procreation a la Brave New World? Should Haiti “stew in its own juice”?

According to Meshack Mabogoane, the Secretary General of the Forum of Black Journalists (PDF), AIDS is a preventable disease, and poverty can be significantly reduced by people acting like humans, not savages on viagra, and breeding less poverty stricken and unwanted babies, if families concentrate their wealth and education, prior to procreating:
That South Africa has the highest Aids infection and death rates is neither altogether Mbeki's doing, nor coincidental. Legislation and other government-driven policies and programmes have engendered an environment that has escalated the pandemic. For example, the permissive pregnancy rules and social grants (especially for children) introduced by the Constitution and government have encouraged teenagers and unmarried women to have children on a large scale. The spread of Aids has been a consequence; the evidence is there for all to see. And so too there is a high correlation between this abnormal government-sponsored population explosion, on the one hand, and the deepening of the Aids crisis, of Malthusian poverty aggravation, moral degeneration and social disintegration on the other. So moving on to Haiti; whose black leaders also could not be -- it appears -- bothered with the clear logic of Mr. Magoboane, but instead prefer the ANC's logic; is Haiti population demographics self inflicted:
The population of Haiti in 2003 was estimated by the United Nations at 8,326,000, which placed it as number 90 in population among the 193 nations of the world. In that year approximately 4% of the population was over 65 years of age, with another 43% of the population under 15 years of age. Haiti is the most densely populated country in the Western Hemisphere; the population density in 2002 was 254 per sq km (659 per sq mi).
![]() Easter Island, Earth Island: A message from our past for the future of our Planet; By Paul G. Bahn, John Flenley |
Who forced all these Haitians to breed like rabbits on viagra? It sure wasn't Joyce Tarnow, from Floridians for Sustainable Population, a gray-haired mother of three who's a feminist, an environmentalist, and very concerned with population growth; and former owner of an abortion clinic, who frequently went to work in a flack jacket, because there are quite a few conservative white males in America desperately -- In Gods Name -- concerned that black women be allowed to breed as many black poverty stricken babies as possible:
Fertility is an environmental issue. That's why I try to get as many people sterilized as are in my way! America can't take all the people in the world. We need to help nations that can subsist and let others wither on the vine. Haiti has denuded the whole land. Stew in your own juices!Which echoes Garret Harden's Tragedy of the Commons:
If each human family were dependent only on its own resources; if the children of improvident parents starved to death; if thus, over breeding brought its own "punishment" to the germ line -- then there would be no public interest in controlling the breeding of families. But our society is deeply committed to the welfare state, and hence is confronted with another aspect of the tragedy of the commons.

Pentti Linkola: Can Life Prevail?: A Radical Approach to the Environmental Crisis
Pentti Linkola: Can Life Prevail?: A Radical Approach to the Environmental Crisis
Diord Fionn | Ireland First

“If there were a button I could press [to radically reduce world population], I would sacrifice myself without hesitating, if it meant millions of people would die.” - Pentti Linkola, Wall Street Journal Europe, May 1994
“A minority can never have any other effective means to influence the course of matters but through the use of violence.”
“Any dictatorship would be better than modern democracy. There cannot be so incompetent dictator, that he would show more stupidity than a majority of the people. Best dictatorship would be one where lots of heads would roll and government would prevent any economical growth.”
“Foreign affairs: All mass immigration and most of import-export trade must stop. Cross-border travel is allowed only for small numbers of diplomats and correspondents.”
“Science and schooling: Education will concentrate on practical skills. All competition is rooted out. Technological research is reduced to the extreme minimum. But every child will learn how to clean a fish in a way that only the big shiny bones are left over.”
“By decimating its woodlands, Finland has created the grounds for prosperity. We can now thank prosperity for bringing us – among other things – two million cars, millions of glaring, grey-black electronic entertainment boxes, and many unnecessary buildings to cover the green earth. Wealth and surplus money have led to financial gambling and rampant social injustice, whereby ‘the common people’ end up contributing to the construction of golf courses, classy hotels, and holiday resorts, while fattening Swiss bank accounts. Besides, the people of wealthy countries are the most frustrated, unemployed, unhappy, suicidal, sedentary, worthless and aimless people in history. What a miserable exchange.” – Pentti Linkola
Linkola is one of the few voices who advocates:In the eyes of the most credible sources, planet Earth can sustain a half-billion humans without any sizable destruction of our habitat, or any loss in species or stability of our ecosystem. Any numbers higher than that, no matter how much they recycle, will cause environmental chaos. The modern leftist-tinged environmental movement is terrified of telling anyone that they cannot breed and keep buying whatever strikes their fancy, but someone must do this in the future. The sooner we do it, the fewer people in the future will be left without a means of sustenance and thus require termination.
- No immigration
- Downsize population
- Kill defectives
- Stop rampant technology
As Linkola himself has said, "We still have a chance to be cruel. But if we are not cruel today, all is lost."

Honourable CC: UTNE Reader, other 24 alleged visionaries compared to the fraud: Nelson Mandela, whom the worlds liberals are too petrified to hold to the same standards as white leaders: Julian Assange, Alex Gibney, Tani Ikeda, Rebecca Solnit, Kieran Egan, Anil Gupta, Woody Tasch, Nina Dudnik, Natalia Allen, Judith Butler, Annette Rizzo, Perry Chen, Michelle Ajamian and Brandon Jaeger, Elinor Ostrom, Sandra Steingraber, Ted Howard, Rebecca Onie, Elizabeth Scharpf, Alexander Petroff, Paul Ewald, Tim Wise, Bryan Doerries, Victoria Pettibone and Sasha Eden, Bill McKibben.
Dear Sirs/Ladies,
The following information about the ANC’s policies and practices, has repeatedly been honourably submitted to Mr. Nelson Mandela, via the Nelson Mandela Foundation. I do not make allegations about someone behind their back, and without providing them with the right of reply. I have never received any honourable reply from the Nelson Mandela Foundation, or Nelson Mandela, or the ANC, informing me that any of the allegations were erroneous.
Ecological Internet were informed that Nelson Mandela had endorsed (I) the ANC policy of ‘Operation Production’ which punished African women who (a) denied any ANC cadre the right to rape her & impregnate her, or (b) was found to use contraception; by detention, labelling her an Apartheid agent, for a trial before a People’s Court, where a guilty verdict included the sentence of Necklacing, including symbolic ‘Penis Patriarchy Domination’ broken bottles shoved up her vagina; (II) the ANC’s torture and murder of its own ANC members at Camp Quatro, et al; (III) the ANC deliberately ignored and avoided following available non-violent practices in their ‘liberation struggle’; the ANC’s People’s War violent policies are founded upon among others, Frantz Fanon’s advocacy that ‘Violence is a cleansing force, that frees the native’s colonized mind from his inferiority complex, making him fearless and restoring his self-respect, on the rotting corpse of the settler’?; (IV) Majority of SA Blacks did not want ANC black rule and a significant, if not majority of New South Africa blacks miss apartheid, as having provided far better governance and governmental services, than the ANC.
Ecological Internet: Dr. Barry deleted the information, and accused me of being a racist; for expecting Nelson Mandela to be held to the same standards of civilized conduct as any white world leader.
Whenever I have shared this information to a liberal news publication or a liberal non-profit organisation, they never prove the information to be erroneous; they simply delete it, and accuse me of being a ‘racist’. They never explain why holding a black person to the same standards as a white person, because you believe the black person is capable of all any white person is capable of, is ‘racist’. They never define what they mean by ‘racist’. They never inform Nelson Mandela, that they consider him to be incapable of being held to the same civilized standards as they hold other white world leaders, because he is black.
According to the definition of racism, I subscribe to: It is liberals who think blacks are inferior and hence demand that blacks not be held accountable to the same standards as whites, who are the racists! Are UTNE Reader and Ecological Internet ‘racists’?

Natural Resources and Human Evolution:
During the past 2+ million years, humanity—Homo sapiens and our hominid predecessors—evolved through three major lifestyle paradigms: hunter-gatherer, agrarian, and industrial.
Each of the three paradigms is readily distinguishable from the other two in terms of its worldview, natural resource utilization behavior, and resulting level of societal wellbeing—i.e., attainable population levels and material living standards.

ENERGY: FOUNDATION OF ECONOMIC GROWTH
Energy Production & Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
Energy and Economic Growth, by David I. Stern, Department of Economics, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute:This article surveys the relation between energy and economic growth and more generally the role of energy in economic production. While business and financial economists pay significant attention to the impact of oil and other energy prices on economic activity, the mainstream theory of economic growth pays little or no attention to the role of energy or other natural resources in promoting or enabling economic growth. Resource and ecological economists have criticised this theory on a number of grounds, especially the implications of thermodynamics for economic production and the long-term prospects of the economy. While a fully worked out alternative model of the growth process does not seem to exist, extensive empirical work has examined the role of energy in the growth process. The principal finding is that energy used per unit of economic output has declined, but that this is to a large extent due to a shift in energy use from direct use of fossil fuels such as coal to the use of higher quality fuels, and especially electricity. When this shift in the composition of final energy use is taken into account energy use and the level of economic activity are found to be tightly coupled. When these and other trends are taken into account the prospects for further large reductions in the energy intensity of economic activity seem limited. The implications for environmental quality and economic sustainability are discussed.

Population of African cities to triple: Get the data
The population of Africa's cities is expected to rise rapidly. Find which cities are set to grow.
The population of African cities is set to triple over the next 40 years according to a report by UN-HABITAT.
The report entitled The State of African Cities 2010: Governance, Inequalities and Urban Land Markets shows Africa facing a remarkable rise in urban population.
Cairo is set to grow by 23% over the next 15 years with a projected figure of 13.5 million inhabitants by 2025. Lagos in Nigeria and Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo rank in second and third place of Africa's highest urban agglomerations.
The population of Lagos is expected to nearly double in the next fifteen years with cities such as Dar es Salaam predicted to boost their population by just under 3 million people.

WHY ACTIVISTS FAIL
There are two reasons why activist efforts to halt the inertia of the Empire have failed and will continue to fail: human nature, and human nature.....
THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR
But there is a deeper part of human nature which covers the planet in a sickly, light-sweet-crude blanket of denial. It is best exemplified from the closing lines of Sidney Pollack's 1975 Three Days of the Condor, perhaps the best spy movie ever made. As FTW has shown in recent stories – using declassified CIA documents – the CIA was well aware of Peak Oil in the mid 1970s. Three Days of the Condor took that awful truth and said then, what few in the post-9/11 world have had the courage to say. I can guarantee you that it is the overriding rationale in Dick Cheney's mind, in the mind of every senior member of the Bush administration, and in the mind of whomever it is that will be chosen as the 2004 Democratic Party nominee. Getting rid of Bush will not address the underlying causative factors of energy and money and any solution that does not address those issues will prove futile.
BlackfootSwan ~ SageRedRussian :: “Military Gospel – according to Homer Lea”: Valour of Ignorance, by Homer Lea :: CheyenneMission ~ RedArticBell:
When will that Golden Age be ushered in upon this unhappy earth, and arbitration between individuals substituted for law and dynamic force in which it originates and ends? When will laws made by man for the government of man, together with his courts, his penal institutions, be put aside and voluntary arbitration between man and man take their place?
Only when arbitration is able to unravel the tangled skein of crime and hypocrisy among individuals can it be extended to communities and nations. As nations are only man in the aggregate, they are the aggregate of his crimes and deception and depravity, and so long as these constitute the basis of individual impulse, so long will they control the acts of nations.
